On 11 February 2009 from 14.00 to 19.00, the „2° Initiative – German CEOs for Climate Protection“ organized the 2°-Forum 2009 “Climate Protection for Everyone!“ at Allianz SE Repräsentanz at the Eugen-Gutmann-Haus on Pariser Platz in Berlin. With the 2° Forum, the Initiative brought together marketing experts and product innovators from leading German companies with climate protection experts from various disciplines for the first time in order to develop business solutions for a climate friendly society. Is climate protection synonymous with sacrifice or only possible for the wealthy? How can climate protection be made accessible to the entire population and not just select groups? What role do entrepreneurial innovation and political framework play? Which climate friendly products exist and how can they be better marketed? And what do effective incentive systems for all participants look like? What are the opportunities and limits for climate friendly consumer behaviour? These were central questions that were discussed by well-known leaders from government, business and consumer protection in two high-ranking interdisciplinary panel discussions and four forums regarding entrepreneurial innovations.
„2° Initiative – German CEOs for Climate Protection“ is an initiative of German CEOs, managing directors and family-owned businesses. The initiative was founded during the run-up to the G8 Summit in Heiligendamm in 2007, with the goal of supporting government in their effort to establish free-market conditions for climate protection and to activate German CEOs’ solution competence for climate protection. The 2°– Initiative is named after an important goal: to limit global warming to an average of 2°C.. |
